Named for the second-highest mountain range on earth and forged on the picturesque peaks of Monestier-de-Clermont, the 1954 Karakorum jacket has taken Moncler on a seventy-year quest for the ultimate in warmth and protection. A keystone in the Moncler legacy, Karakorum is reborn for the second chapter of Moncler Re/Icons.

“How do you define an icon? Grandeur, success, magnitude?”

While Moncler’s classic codes were set down in the mid-century, when recreational skiing and mountain exploration was beginning to boom, like all great legends, the heritage brand is not limited by the mundane medium of time. Ever evolving instead with new sporting ambitions and technological advancements. Originally worn by Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli as they became the very first people to reach the summit of K2 in 1954, Karakorum’s double down insulation and adjustable toggles formed a prototype that still informs high-performance skiwear of today.

Emerging from the preserves of commemorative memory, Karakorum returns in three iterations. A story of past, present and future, its iconic design is an emblem of warmth and technical excellence. Created to be revered, to be worn and to explore.
