Founded in 1996 by design duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, Preen quickly became an internationally celebrated brand offering polished, punk inspired looks and sharply tailored designs. Originally launched as a Portobello Road boutique the brand offers a considered selection of fabrics and prints in its consistently striking and innovative collections.
The compelling Preen AW15 collection transposed traditional geometry of plaids onto fluid chiffon fabrics and applied intricate floral appliqués to structured skirts and jackets. Romantic printed dresses featured long bell sleeves and asymmetric, layered hems whilst dense wools, shearling-plaid jackets and colour blocked coats in an autumnal colour palette created a welcome level of contrast and tactility. Delivering strong and wearable pieces, the collection featured 70’s style bohemian corset strung pants and lace-up tops in bright yellows and cornflower blues alongside contemporary tailored pants with fringed trims. With an underlying ‘dark romance’ the borderless collection delivered elegant and innovative womenswear with layered silhouettes, feminine three-dimensional detailing and lumberjack-style plaid outerwear.
