Yohji Yamamoto has been a revolutionary and hugely influential cultural figure since starting his career in 1972. Driven by his deep desire to create anti-fashion through fashion his avant-garde yet timeless collections resonate. Renowned for blurring the boundaries between fashion and the arts, he has influenced theatrical and cinematic fashion and exhibited his work worldwide.
The Yohji Yamamoto Eyewear Collection takes inspiration from his original three-word brief: ‘Dramatic, Avant Garde and Intelligent’. The result is an intriguing collection of sunglasses that are both challenging and glamorous, avant-garde and original. The collection investigates reconstruction through deconstruction, exploring Yamamoto’s rebellious spirit, depth of colour and his skill in cut and fit. The colour palette has been developed exclusively with Mazzucchelli and reflects Yamamoto’s clothing; dark and sombre shades at first glance, that are deep, tonal and intriguing. Monochrome lenses have been developed with Christian Dalloz to perfectly match the bespoke acetates, creating a distinct and desirable collection.
