Chee Shimizu - Obscure Sound Book and CD Set
For over a decade now, Tokyo based DJ, Producer and record dealer Chee Shimizu has been pushing the boundaries of underground, Japanese dance music. Consistently ahead of the curve, Shimizu, through his Discossession and Sci-Fi parties, was one of the first DJs in Japan to introduce experimental disco, cosmic and leftfield sounds to the country's dancefloors. His role as an influential DJ is matched by his work as a producer for Kenji Takimi's label Crue-l Records, again under the Discossession moniker.
In 2010, Shimizu launched his own online record store, 'Organic Music'. The store is a meticulous curation of the hard to find, genre-spanning releases that Shimizu has been introducing to his various audiences over the years, both in Japan and further afield. Shimizu has been in continuous collaboration with LN-CC since 2010, curating the LN-CC “Organic Music” used vinyl section, physical in-store record sales and mixes for the LN-CC Soundcloud page. We are therefore proud to be stocking Shimizu’s first publication, entitled “Obscure Sound”. The ethos of Organic Music is given physical form in this beautifully executed disc guide. With over 500 records reviewed in Japanese and accompanied with full colour imagery, “Obscure Sound” is an in-depth introduction to the music that has shaped and influenced Shimizu’s sound over the last decade.
