Katsu Naito's 'West Side Rendezvous' Book Launch and Exhibition
-
LN-CC is proud to present 'West Side Rendezvous', exhibition and book launch.
A collection of photographs by Katsu Naito, documenting the transvestite and transexual street-walkers of New York's Meatpacking District in the early 1990s.
The 45 images, largely portraits, intimately capture the unexpected beauty of the subject's day-to-day lives. Naito does not pass judgement, rather observes, and it is evident that he is trusted by his subjects. Street-walkers of all races and backgrounds, each with a different story to tell, are photographed in their immediate environment, the empty streets of "West Side" New York.
The launch of the exhibition also coincides with the Jus Wax pop up store...

Juswax Pop-Up-Store at LN-CC
UK born, Stockholm based, Mark Seven is one of the most highly regarded DJs and producers in leftfield dance music today. From DJ sets at the legendary "Black Lodge" parties, to his production work on labels such as Creative Use and Mule Musiq, Mark's varied work as an artist is bound together by his ability to create truly original work that pushed boundaries whilst simultaneously referencing the past with respect. Mark Seven also runs Juswax, an online record store, selling a rare, hand-picked selection of influential and seminal records found by Mark on his Trans-Atlantic digging trips.
Following the immense success of our project with Mark Seven for the "Salute 2" mix CD and T-shirt set, we are happy to announce a further collaboration with Stockholm's finest. For a period of 4 weeks commencing on July 21st, Mark will be operating a Pop-Up version of his Juswax record store in the LN-CC library. For the event, Mark has hand-picked a selection of his finest titles, spanning disco, house, Balearic, rock and more. The records will be available both in-store and online, with the online selection being split into 4 weekly drops.
To celebrate the opening of the pop-up-store Mark will be flying to London for the opening party on July 21st.
The opening date also coincides with the Wild Life Press' "West Side Rendezvous" book launch and exhibition that will take place in the LN-CC the gallery space.
