Vera and Olivera Capara create innovative yet elegant pieces. Born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and raised in Germany, Vera and Olivera followed their passion for clothes to Antwerp where they studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Working under an array of fashion powerhouses including Dries Van Noten, Maison Martin Margiela, Delvaux and Jil Sander, the twin sister’s forged their own brand in 2009. Presenting reminiscent and refined collections with a focus on shape and form, their womenswear line evokes femininity and wearability.
Inspired by Belgian surrealist artist René Magritte, Capara’s SS15 collection features bird embroidered appliqués, prints and three dimensional broaches. Magritte’s leaves also served as inspiration for the collection, realised in silk ink jet prints and woven jacquards on silk organza. Evoking innovative shapes, Capara reinvents classic silhouettes, adding on shoulder pieces to create dimension and volume. In a collection that explores form and silhouette, Capara adorned women in powerful, elegant innovative shapes, emerald green organza coats and multi-coloured signature screen-printed sleeves.
