New Lovers Series

Launched in 2010 by artist Paul Chan, New York-based Badlands Unlimited is an iconoclastic independent publisher pushing the boundaries of traditional publishing by encouraging and promoting the experimentation of text through paperbacks, 3D ebooks, digital works and various other mediums. Rejecting the traditional nature of arts publishing and inspired by the radical mid-20th-century Parisian publisher Olympia Press (founded by Maurice Girodias in 1953), Badlands Unlimited provides a platform for influential and subversive writers: “We make books in an expanded field” explains Chan.

The New Lovers series of short novellas features the raw writings of female authors who are newcomers to the erotic genre with each story centering on the themes of intimacy, sex and relationships in a new generation of erotica and sexual imagination. Each author creates a personal vocabulary for sexuality and new ways in which to think where sex permeates everything from the narrative, the context of the plot and intricately woven into the characters themselves. Liberating transgressive writings, New Lovers features work from Wednesday Black, Lex Brown and Larissa Pham, with each of the authors cultivating a new and exploratory narrative in erotic fiction.

LN-CC’s offering includes New Lovers 1: How to Train your Virgin by Wednesday Black, New Lovers 4: My Wet Hot Drone Summer by Lex Brown, New Lovers 5: I Would do Anything for Love by Al Bedell, New Lovers 7: Kuntalini by Tamara Faith Berger, New Lovers 8: One Valencia Lane by Bettina Davis and New Lovers 9: Fantasian by Larissa Pham available as soft-touch laminated paperback editions.
