GmbH Spring Summer 2017

In-house recycling programme

GmbH was founded by Serhat Isik and Benjamin Alexander Huseby in Berlin. Functioning as a collaborative community brought together by the city’s famed techno dancefloors, the brand is a cross-cultural amalgamation of influences and inspirations, born from the energy and attitude of the present time. Launching in 2016 and having already shown at Paris fashion week the brand is already gaining industry respect as a shortlisted nominee for the LVMH Prize. Isik and Huseby are both creative, Isik has a background in fashion design and Huseby a photographer who has shot for AnOther Magazine and Dazed. Both children of Muslim immigrants, the name GmbH (an abbreviation for a limited company in Germany) is a nod to the idea of a family business, with connotations rooted in industry and manufacturing.

The unisex line features pieces crafted from deadstock materials sourced from a high-end factory in Milan, the label resists the over-consumption of today’s fashion industry with athletic sportswear inspired pieces, tight jerseys, PVC pants, bulky leather jackets and tactile vests. The colour palette is a mono mix of camels, khaki, red and browns in contrasting leatherette, corduroy and PVC imagined in oversized and club-ready silhouettes.

Adopting a collaborative and cross-cultural attitude that informs all of their decisions and operations, the contemporary collective offers neotribalism and a genuine alternative to mass production.
