EDEN Power Corp’s mantra to “provide the knowledge and tools to create better energy, a better life and a better world” is one we should all repeat every single day and on Earth Day, we should all turn up the volume.
Founded by Isaac Larose and Florence Provencher Proulx, EDEN’s goal is to spark interest in a previously disinterested crowd and to share alternatives for a better future. From using 100% recycled cotton for its T-shirts, hoodies and shorts to removing all plastic fibres from its fabrics after realising the importance of the microplastic problem and replacing recycled polyester with hemp fabrics, EDEN are constantly searching for conscious alternatives. They’re first to accept that it’s a journey, one in which we’re all learning.
Beyond integrating more responsible solutions into every step of the creative process, the Montreal-based conscious brand continually shines a light on important social and environmental issues. Each season, the EDEN team focuses their infectious energy and compelling curiosities on a specific theme. After launching with solar, they focused on permaculture followed by ocean acidification and restoration. For spring/summer 21, they turn their, and our, attention to mycelium; the vegetative part of a fungus or fungus-like bacterial colony, consisting of a mass of branching, thread-like hyphae. For the lookbook shared here, the ethically-crafted, fungus-inspired everyday wear was shot inside EDEN’s local urban mushroom farm, Les 400 pieds de champignon. Talk about putting the fun into fungi ;)
As EDEN continues to challenge just what a conscious brand can be, they’ve enlisted Montreal-based neighbour, producer and friend of the brand, Lunice, to play a 30-minute set on Instagram Live for you, the LN-CC community. Following Jacques Greene’s live set for Earth Day last year, Lunice soundtracks this year’s Earth Day/night as we raise funds for the Eden Reforestation Projects, an initiative aiming to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests by employing local villages to plant millions of trees every year. Every $10 donated will fund the plantation of 100 trees.
“There’s always this feeling of not doing enough when we see great initiatives like Eden Reforestation Projects and it really motivates us to try to do better and to make meaningful work,” EDEN recently told Orienteer Mapazine. Spending time in the ecosystem of EDEN has the same effect. We can all do more, why not start, continue or amplify today, Earth Day?
LN-CC LIVE: Plant Trees - Save Lives will see Lunice takeover the LN-CC Instagram at 8pm BEST.
