Di Petsa and Ugo Paulon

Di Petsa and Ugo Paulon

While this initiative has been many months in the making, we’re launching our collaborative Di Petsa pre-order capsule alongside a limited edition Ugo Paulon footwear collection on International Women’s Day because not only are these two of the most promising and powerful emerging conscious brands we know, but they push possibilities, challenge perceptions and celebrate consciousness. Fittingly, the message of this year’s IWD is “Choose to Challenge” and from what they design to how it’s produced and the way in which they choose to present it, Di Petsa and Ugo Paulon are continually choosing to challenge.

Di Petsa’s designs explore female sexuality and deconstruct feelings of shame surrounding the female body. While creating clothes for FKA Twigs, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Paloma Elsesser, Class of 2018 CSM-graduate Dimitra Petsa wants all women to unabashedly love themselves. “Every form of love exists within you — platonic love, sexual love, maternal love, friendship, anything,” she explains over Skype from her Athens home. “Love is available for you to give others, but just as importantly, it’s available to supply yourself too – self-love is beautiful.”

Throughout lockdown, the designer and performance artist has held a series of monthly virtual movement workshops. From April 2020, the Wetness Workshops have been an extension of her Wetness Project that explores femininity through often taboo bodily fluids. While the initial workshops dealt with replacing shame with a sense of empowerment, they have increasingly moved towards encouragements of self-love. “Through the workshops we tried to create this safe space and have built deep connections at a time in which many of us feel disconnected . It has been a very profound and intimate experience for me,” explains Dimitra, who has personally led the workshops. “All forms of love exist within you, how does the love we give ourselves differ from the love we give others?”

Alongside the pre-order Di Petsa capsule collection, we are unveiling limited edition designs from Ugo Paulon. Driven by sustainability and circularity, Elise crafts handmade repurposed heels from post-consumer materials. Each shoe is made from carefully-sourced vintage shoes, clothes, leftover fabrics and other second-hand materials “Ugo Paulon started out as a challenge to myself to create as valuable and distinctive an outcome as possible with the least use of any new or virgin materials,” Elise has previously told us. “Di Petsa and Ugo Paulon are two women-owned brands which both have a truly unique point-of-view, a conscious sensibility and create future collectibles,” menswear buyer Eshaan Dhingra excitedly explains on the eve of the launch.

As LN-CC offers today’s must-haves and tomorrow’s collectible, Dimitra collaborated with our creative team on a water ritual performance film – shot by award winning London-based cinematographer and filmmaker Zoe Que and featuring an exclusive Violet Wilson song inspired by the Wetness Project – that develops ideas of self-love.
