Introducing: Stussy

From the boardwalks of Orange County to far-flung International tribes, Stüssy has always been more than a brand. It’s a community, a family, a commune, a movement. Over the course of 40 years, what was once a humble vendor of surf tees and shorts in Laguna Beach, has changed fashion forever. At a time when streetwear is ubiquitous, it’s easy to forget that it was once counterculture, but it was. Born out of the Southern California surf scene, Stüssy swept through the clothing landscape to redefine the look and ideology of casualwear. It was the first of its kind, it created that template, everyone just followed. Growing organically out of, and in parallel to, youth movements, Stüssy inadvertently revolutionised the clothing business and has never looked back.
