The second release from Sweden’s Tommy Awards is another essential 4 track EP. Side A continues from where the first EP left off, with two tracks of blissful Balearic vibes. 'Little Man' has a kind of Balinese baggy feel to it, thick with opiates and heat haze as the synths swell under the dubby acoustics. 'Hotel Odemark' is a sunkissed West Coast groover complete with chorus pedal guitar licks and plenty of dub delay. If you liked Land Of Lights recent release then this should definitely appeal to you. Side B reveals another side to Tommy Awards and shows the guys are no slouch when it comes to producing in the electronic realm, employing vintage synths and drum machines to create 'Gale Force', the ballad of the wind. Beautifully restrained melodies twinkle as glassy synths slide over each other with a touch of melancholy bringing to mind the excellent Maricopa EP on Tusk Wax last year. For the final track, Is It Balearic head honchos Coyote take on the difficult task of remixing last year’s classic, 'Blind Andy', and come out victorious, adding elements of acid and making the track altogether deeper.
