STORE MIX 116: CHEZ DE MILO
AN EXCLUSIVE MIX FROM LN-CC IN COLLABORATION WITH LOVE INTERNATIONAL, CAPTURING THE SPIRIT OF THE FESTIVAL AHEAD OF THIS YEAR’S TISNO EDITION.
LN-CC have teamed up with Love International to spotlight some of the standout names from this year’s festival lineup. First up is a deeply transportive session from Chez de Milo.
A Bristol-based DJ and the mind behind Club Blanco, Chez is known for his hypnotic, genre-blurring sets that drift between psychedelic house, balearic oddities and dubby, chugging grooves. With regular appearances on Noods Radio and a growing list of festival credits, he brings a rare ability to build energy slowly and beautifully, always keeping one eye on the dancefloor, the other on the horizon.
Ahead of his set in Tisno this summer, Chez delivers an exclusive Store Mix for LN-CC: warm, expansive and laced with cosmic flair.
What does performing at Love International Festival represent for you as an artist?
This will be my thirteenth year returning to Tisno, so it certainly feels like home. The festival has such a strong sense of community and musical integrity, and being part of that is a real privilege. I think the magic of the location really brings out the best in everyone performing.
How does Love International stand out from other festivals you have played, both musically and atmospherically?
What really sets Love International apart is the family atmosphere. It is palpable and completely infectious. Whether it is someone’s first time or they have been coming for years, everyone just seems to get it. It is easy to turn up with 20 friends and leave with 200. It is full of moments of pure bliss and moments of pure ecstasy.
Can you recall a defining moment from a past edition that shaped your connection to the festival?
A defining moment last year was definitely the all night long set I played with Ellie Stokes, who I program the festival with alongside Dave, at the Olive Grove. We cheekily and perhaps somewhat selfishly booked ourselves for the sunrise slot, which has gained legendary status over the years. So it was definitely one of those "alright, we have really got to walk the walk now" moments. And it was wild in there. A crowd full of friends and loved ones having it as far as the eye could see, and everything just seemed to click, good and proper.
What defines the spirit of Love International for you, and how did you aim to reflect that in your LN-CC Store Mix?
For me, the spirit of Love International is all about connection. Through music, through community, through those in-between moments that end up meaning the most. There is a freedom and openness that runs through the whole thing. I wanted to reflect that feeling in the LN-CC mix. I did not go too deep into the peak time dance floor business, not the kind of stuff I have packed to close Barbarella’s this year, because I wanted it to translate to a retail setting also. But it is still a blend of styles that speaks to the different corners of Love International for sure.
How would you describe the atmosphere and intention behind your LN-CC Mix?
Deep, deep like the Adriatic Sea.
Is there a particular track in the mix that you feel best captures the essence of the festival?
It is difficult to capture the essence of the festival in one track. There are so many layers and moods across the week. We program it 24 hours a day for 7 days.
In what ways does your process differ when preparing a festival set compared to a curated mix for LN-CC?
I usually approach recording a mix in much the same way as I do a DJ set. A bunch of records and songs on a USB, press play, and see where it goes. The big difference is of course there is no crowd in front of you, so you are not feeding off that live energy or making decisions in the moment based on the room.
Both LN-CC and Love International are known for thoughtful curation. How do you personally approach curating sound?
Like I mentioned earlier, the music at Love International runs 24 hours a day for seven days, which sounds completely mental when you say it out loud. But within that, there is a natural ebb and flow, and we put a lot of care into how it all flows. We think a lot about what fits where, how things feel at different times of day, how one set leads into the next, and how to keep it interesting across the week without overwhelming people.
How do you see your musical identity aligning with LN-CC’s wider approach to culture and style?
I have always been into menswear. I actually worked in the industry for many years before music became the main focus. So LN-CC has always stood out to me as a space that takes fashion, music and culture seriously, but still knows how to keep things interesting and a bit unexpected. That is something I try to bring into what I do as a DJ too. That balance really resonates with how I approach things.
