Rune Lindbaek returns after a short hiatus with his first release on his own Drum Island imprint since 2013's 'Krasava' LP, and it's a total beauty. Teaming up with recent LP collaborator Oyvind Blikstad on 'North', Rune proves beyond all doubt that he's the master of the Scando-Med groove, marrying icy melodies and glacial Norse chords with tropical polyrhythms and sunny guitars. The melancholic tone of previous single 'Wonder' is still there, but with song structure left behind, 'North' has all the space it needs to bloom into a string filled epic you can lose yourself in completely.
