Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood rose to fame in the late 1970s, when her non-conformist designs helped shape the British Punk movement. Starting out creating clothes for her then-partner, and Sex Pistols manager, Malcolm McLaren’s King’s Road boutique in 1971, 10 years later she showed her first collection at London fashion week. Four decades on, the British fashion designer and counter-cultural icon continues to produce collections that are rebellious and thought-provoking. An activist for climate change, nuclear disarmament, civil rights and freedom of speech, Westwood’s designs are often emblazoned with provocative slogans and political calls to action. Today, the brand remains true to its rebellious spirit through asymmetric forms, experimental fabric combinations, chunky footwear and the reoccurring signature orb motif.
