Heritage remains key to Burberry’s iconic collections, alongside a vision for fashion-forward pieces, inspirational runway shows and an industry-leading position in digital technology. Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, with the intention to produce garments to protect people from the British weather. Thomas Burberry would go on to invent the breathable and waterproof gabardine as worn by first recorded Polar explorer Dr Fridtjof Nansen, air commodore Edward Maitland and acclaimed British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. The London-based brand is today under the creative direction of Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci who had previously worked at Givenchy. Burberry combines its heritage of innovation and craftsmanship in its design of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, accessories and beauty. This season sees the brand continue to elevate its iconic designs, re-introducing the heritage trench coat and vintage check pattern alongside modern tailoring, the TB monogram and versatile footwear.
