ARCHIVAL EXPEDITION

MONCLER DRAWS FROM THEIR OWN ARCHIVE OF ALPINE ICONOGRAPHY FOR RE/ICONS, NOW AVAILABLE AT LN-CC

In 1954, Lino Lacedelli and Achill Compagnoni reached the summit of the K2 (8,611m), one of the highest mountains on Earth, second only to Everest – and they did it wearing Moncler. The climbers were outfitted in the Karakorum, which became a staple jacket still in rotation to this day, now part of the Re/Icons collection, alongside the Himalaya, the Verone, and the Tibb. All icons for a reason, now, in 2026 they’re re-iconic.

Named after the Karakorum range where the K2 Mountain lies, the Karakorum jacket is a testament to the skill of those who bested such a difficult climb. Originally crafted from insulated cotton, the updated parka is a sign of Moncler’s technical innovation, being crafted from a water-repellent micro ripstop, lightweight, yet still expedition ready. Made to be re-iconic with noteworthy details, including its detachable hood and internal suspenders, dressing explorers with adaptability in mind.

The summit of the Himalayan Makalu Mountain (8,485m) was first reached by French Explorer Lionel Terray in 1955, while equipped with Moncler. Cut to 2009, and the Himalaya jacket made its mark, inspired by this historic achievement, encapsulating their legacy of outfitting excellence through creating one of their most longstanding icons. Now as a re-icon, it's down-filled update, crafted from a cotton-nylon blend, features a drawstring fastening and adjustable hood, giving a fit tailored to the wearer’s needs.

The Paninaro, a subculture of youth born in the 1980s within the Northern parts of Italy, were known for their mix of European and American fashion. The Verone, an essential part of Milan’s Paninari, has bridged the style gap between the mountains and the streets for decades now. Now, the Verone enters 2026 as a re-icon, crafted from a lightweight micro cotton, ready to re-establish itself as an integral piece of fashion history. Also hailing from the ‘80s, the Tibb vest is as synonymous with Moncler as ever, this sleeveless gilet is now made reversible in either recycled Longue Saison or wool gabardine. A testament to the endurance of an icon, the Tibb brings heritage styling to the contemporary, proving why it's a classic.
