Born in a snowstorm in 1962 at the Kaufman rubber factory in Kitchener, Ontario, SOREL was created to protect Canadians against frozen winter conditions. Using a now-signature combination of handmade rubber, wool and full-grain buff leather, Kaufman crafted the Caribou boot, an icon that carried explorers from Ralph Plaisted’s legendary 1968 North Pole expedition to the first snowboarders in the 1980s. The DAYSTORM HORIZON™ GTX Boot most directly reflects the brand’s roots, translating expedition-ready durability into a form that belongs as much in the city as on the trail.
